Black Country Wholesome Green
It all started at Baggeridge. I remember the first time I walked on this piece of land, I had a very strange sensation - it was a slight unsettled feeling inside yet an overall calmness physically.
This land was once cut open and battered, now I saw nature has healed its scars. Trees, shrubs, and flowers were everywhere for eyes that look, and birds chattering for ears that listen. On the windy hilltop, I saw a lone apple tree. I’ve seen apple trees in gardens, parks or orchids, or along the pavements, but I haven’t seen one on a hilltop that exposed to winds. Now on top of the Baggeridge hill that was once covered with waste materials from the collieries and brick factories, among the gorse and brambles, this apple tree is thriving.
That night, the apple tree came in my dream. When I woke up the next morning, the sweet smell still lingered.
I felt the calling.
