After school, me and my brother liked to go to Manor Farm Park to do
metal detecting, hunting for treasures. You would be surprised by the
kind of things we found. Once the council park worker told us that we
shouldn’t doing this in the park. Why not? If we didn’t do it, these
things would be buried underground forever.
I may not have paid enough attention at school, but through metal
detecting, I learnt to be patient, focused, thorough and systematic. I
started working at local garage and now I have my own garage. I still
enjoy going for metal detecting holidays with my brother. OK, we didn’t
find the Staffordshire Hoard. But maybe that’s a good thing. I heard
that the two men that shared the cash from the find fell out with each
other.
